AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION & UPDATES

Stay current on how construction activities will affect your travels

Gateway Transformation

We recommend arriving at the airport two hours prior to your scheduled departure time - at the ticket counter no less than 90 minutes prior to departure. This additional time will ensure that you have ample time to park, arrive at the terminal, check in for your flight and proceed through the passenger security screening checkpoint in time to board your flight.

Here is how the current phase of our Gateway Transformation project may impact your upcoming travel experience.

Passenger Impact:

  • All entrance traffic for BOTH Concourses are using the new centralized checkpoint. Exit traffic continues to use the same exit paths as before.
  • The pre-security gift shop Destination Michigan is now re-opened. With a fresh new look and great selection of Michigan made products you are sure to find some truly great travel products and souvenirs!
  • The new gift shop in the post-security marketplace A Touch of Grand Rapids is now open!
  • The remodeled Grand Hall, east and west restrooms are open, including a new family restroom on the east end.
  • The west business center is open.
  • The Kids Port play area remains closed for remodeling.
  • All concessions remain open and accessible. Additional signage has been installed to help identify these facilities.

Here are some renderings of the finished project.

Roadway Construction

We are not currently aware of any roadway construction activities that will impact travel around the airport campus.

Airport Viewing Park

The Airport Viewing Park project is now complete and the entire park is open! We encourage any of our visitors and neighbors to stop by and check out the new amenities that are now available. While you are there, check in on our Viewing Park Facebook Page and feel free to leave us your comments!
